Weightings

Weightings

In scoring, weighting enables you to further alter query output results.  For example, you can weight the scoring algorithm towards returning more significant results, rather then relevant results.

The following weightings are possible:

Scoring weights:

Measured as a ratio between Significance:relevance.

Weight by time decay:

Enables you to set a specific date and time in Hours with a half life setting.  Results that fall outside the half life setting are demoted.  For example, with a half life setting of 1 month, results within 1 month of the entered date are promoted; results between 1 to 2 months from decay time are halved.

Geo Decay:

Results outside a specific lat/long bounding box are demoted as per the half-life setting.

Aggregation Significance Weighting:

If true, aggregated entities are weighted by relevance to ensure entities occurring in more relevant documents are weighted up.

For more information, see section Aggregation, and Advanced Options.

Manual Weightings:

Enables you to weight results from specific sources, types or tags.  For more information, see section Advanced Options.
